Welcome to On the Other Foot!
Welcome to On the Other Foot!
Welcome to On the Other Foot, a No Holds Barre-d *insert studio laugh track* Look at the World of Dance!
Starting October 1st, every Tuesday we will bring you a Podcast on nutrition, lifestyle, and mental health.
On the Other Foot is a podcast and blog for regular people who happen to dance. It is the brainchild and passion project of two college students and dancers, Kaleno Tano (@tano_tomato) and Jayne Friscia (@jayneannfriscia).
Each week, Kalena and Jayne are going to take on a topic in the dance world that isn’t spoken about enough and approach it honestly for our listeners. Isn’t that nice of them?
Who are Kalena and Jayne? Great question.
Are they qualified to be doing this? Definitely.
Kalena grew up doing gymnastics in San Diego before she began dancing at Southern California Ballet. After graduating high school she attended UCSD and danced as a trainee at City Ballet of San Diego. After one year, she was promoted to an apprenticeship position with the company and now pursues an online business administration degree. She also teaches at Southern California Ballet and is a big believer in yoga!
Jayne also grew up in San Diego, training at San Diego Civic Youth Ballet and City Ballet of San Diego. After dancing with City Ballet of San Diego for one year as a trainee, she decided to pursue her education at the University of California, Irvine. She is currently a sophomore dance major and business management student. She is also a dance teacher, a tutor, and is looking forward to returning to dancing professionally after school.
We started this podcast to create a space for dancers where commonplace experiences are discussed earnestly. We’re really excited to bring our listeners conversations about nutrition, mental health, the financial burden of dance, the skinny on second companies, and many more amazing discussions we had with some fabulous guests, including former PNB and Boston Ballet dancers, esteemed movement therapy doctors, and current professional dancers with companies such as Ballet Met and Complexions Contemporary Ballet.
We’ll be releasing the first three episodes of On the Other Foot on October 1st on iTunes and Soundcloud. You can be a part of the On The Other Foot community by following us @OtherFoot.Pod on Instagram and Facebook or by subscribing to our email list (we won’t spam you!).
Thanks for joining the On The Other Foot Community!
